I was in Los Angeles with my boss at the time, for the American Library Association annual conference. I decided to find a photographer to shoot cool photos with since the LA talent pool was much richer than in rural southern Illinois. I told my boss about my plans to do a photoshoot and she gave me this pained, wistful look and said "Oh, we're going to lose you to LA. You're going to be a model and the library world will lose you." It was such a sweet, tender moment. But I guess she was right!
